Many states have developed partnerships with strong, nonprofit health data networks that have evolved beyond the clinical use cases of traditional health information exchanges and now serve as health data utilities (HDUs) for their state. While they may serve a range of specific use cases and vary in terms of maturity and the breadth of network and services they provide, there are some core functions and capabilities common across all of them as they serve the real-time health data and health data analytics needs of both the public and private sector in their states.

With opening remarks by Jennifer Layden, Director of the Office of Public Health Data, Science, Technology at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevetion (CDC), hear from Consortium for State and Regional Interoperability (CSRI) members as they share opportunities for HDUs to meet the state and federal public health needs of today and in the future.
